Step into a captivating musical world with "A Kolomyika Fantasy," a fundraising concert presented by the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra (SJO) in support of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada in Saskatoon. This extraordinary musician experience will feature an all-star lineup of Ukrainian-speaking Canadian vocalists including Slavko Nohas and Kateryna Khartova, alongside the dynamic tenor saxophonist Jerrold Dubyk.
Scheduled for March 9 to coincide with the birthdate of the renowned Ukrainian poet, Taras Shevchenko, this concert will be a unique blend of art and culture. We will honour Shevchenko's poetic legacy by setting some of his poetry to original and respectfully crafted jazz compositions, offering a special new and musically inspired perspective on his timeless works.
